Once a month, I plan on spotlighting one group in your area.
This month's spotlight group is Watertown MOPS @ New Hope Baptist Church!
I hope you enjoy reading about their group. If you want to be the next spotlighted group, please answer the questions below and email the responses to me before the third week of the month (marezee1@verizon.net).
Name of Group: Watertown MOPS
Days and times you meet: 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month from Sept to May, 9:15am to 11:30am.
Average number of moms at your meetings: 25-30
Number of moms on your steering team: 9
Fee structure (do you charge a fee per meeting for crafts or childcare): We charge $20 per semester.
What is your MOPS meeting structure? (your general agenda for each meeting): We open up with announcements and a short devotion/testimony from one of our moms. Then depending on the meeting we would do a craft, have a guest speaker, play a game, and eat.
What is the role of your mentor mom? We have prayer request boxes on the tables. The prayer requests that are put in them are for the mentor mom's only. They are a welcoming presence at our meetings. They also attend the ST meetings. They do a lot behind the scenes too with contacting moms that are struggling or have missed meetings.
How does your chartering ministry support your group? They allow us to use the building. They also give us $100 month towards expenses.
Your best meeting/topic ever: We had a photoprahy themed meeting with a professional photographer as a guest speaker. We also did a photography contest among the moms.
Your best creative activity: We made "Special Day" plates.
Favorite MOPS & POPS Event (if applicable): We've never done a MOPS & POPS event.
Best Fundraiser (If applicable): Our best fundraiser has been a Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Craft Auction. The dinner is by donation only. We usually make about $700.
